Fire Department personnel must remain ready at all times during the day for any type of call. While on scene of a medical call they may get dispatched to a fire. Critical time lost responding back to the station to get a fire engine could mean lives and property are lost at the scene of that fire. The Fire Chief and Labor Union had been working on a solution that would allow the department to respond a lighter vehicle to medical calls, saving time and money; while keeping the fire engine staffed and ready for other calls or fires. The City Council did not approve the plan but we continue to work on innovative ways to deliver the best service to the Community.
