On average, firefighters are committed to emergencies in the City for 2 hours of the day. Our call volume varies from 1 call per day to 15 calls per day. When not responding to incidents firefighters are required to maintain state and federal standards for training and can spend 2-3 hours on this training. Firefighters are also allotted time each day to maintain their physical fitness. You may see them at the local gym or at the High School on the track. In addition to those responsibilities, each shift performs fire inspections, fire hydrant maintenance, public events, station/vehicle maintenance and other duties as assigned by the Chief.
